In 2018, the Department of Health and Social Care piloted the Named Social Worker Model in six areas of England, with support from the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) and the Innovation Unit.
Specialising in support for people with autism, mental health issues and learning disabilities, named social workers are dedicated caseworkers. They are the main point of contact for people and their families and offer professional challenge across the system.
