In a recent letter to the care sector, Claire Armstrong, Director for Adult Social Care Delivery, Department of Health and Social Care, thanked local authorities (LAs) and care providers for their resilience and collaboration, as industrial action continues.
She cited examples of integrated care systems (ICSs) offering support to neighbouring areas, which found themselves under pressure. Partnerships and clear communication at local level were praised, but more direct contact with smaller providers, who might sometimes be overlooked, was also encouraged.
The letter includes useful messaging, which LAs and care providers can share locally with their teams and networks, to help in advance of further industrial action. |

Cases of norovirus infections are rising, with laboratory reports noting outbreaks in care home settings. Please review the existing guidance on managing outbreaks, in the link below, to help stop the spread of infection. Adult social care colleagues should not attend care settings if they have vomiting and diarrhoea, and should not return to work until 48 hours after their symptoms stop. The same advice applies to care home visitors. |
