RCN strike action: how it affects adult social care |
The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) has taken strike action this week and will again, next Tuesday 20 December, in the form of walkouts across 65 NHS organisations.
The impact on adult social care will vary, depending on local staffing levels and agreed mitigations. There will be some disruption across community health, mental health, learning disability services and discharge into adult social care. Local authorities should already be informing care services using NHS care resources, how industrial action will impact them, including emergency contact plans to escalate urgent issues. RCN has confirmed community services will move to a Christmas Day service, allowing NHS teams to provide palliative care and clinically urgent interventions. Specific arrangements have also been agreed for mental health, learning disability and autism services. |

The Anti-racist Listening Project podcast is a way to connect with people engaged in anti-racism activity and to help those who aren’t sure of how to start. The podcast aims to demystify conversations about anti-racist action, how it happens and, most importantly, what we can all learn from them.
