Last coronavirus restrictions in England to lift on 19 July Image supplied by freepik.com As of Monday 19 July, most coronavirus legal restrictions in England will be lifted. Although most people are now fully vaccinated, it is still possible to catch and spread the virus. How to work safely guidance for care homes and domiciliary care staff has been updated with this in mind, with no change to personal protective equipment (PPE) recommendations for staff or visitors.
PPE and infection prevention and control (IPC) measures will continue in care settings, to help keep staff, and those they care for, safe and well.

The awards celebrate the incredible efforts of social care nurses and care workers in England, throughout the pandemic and beyond, and are given to exceptional care colleagues on a rolling basis throughout the year.

Information relating to visiting arrangements in care homes has been updated. This guidance comes into effect on 19 July 2021 and applies to residential care homes and care home residents of all ages. Read the guidance on how to manage visits out of care homes too.
Information for protecting people defined, on medical grounds, as extremely vulnerable to coronavirus, has been updated and includes guidance on maintaining effective protection from 19 July onwards.
Meanwhile, the hospital discharge and community support: policy and operating model sets out how health and care systems should support the safe and timely discharge of people who no longer need to stay in hospital.
